About iHome.my
iHome.my is an independent publication about the Malaysian home. We write honest, evidence-led guides to buying, renting, and renovating, area by area and ringgit by ringgit, for people making real decisions in the Klang Valley and beyond.
Why we exist
Most property sites in Malaysia are organised around the listing. They earn money when an agent or developer pays to be seen, so they rarely tell you that a launch is overpriced, that an area is wrong for you, or that renting is the smarter move this year. We are organised around the person, across the whole home journey, and we make no money from listings. That is what lets us give you a verdict.
What we cover
- Area guides: where to live, with real price, rent, commute, and lifestyle reads, and who each area is not for.
- Renovation: what it actually costs in Malaysia, room by room, and how to brief a contractor without getting burned.
- Buying and renting: first-home steps, tenancy and deposit rights, and the honest maths of rent versus buy.
How we stay useful
We give ranges, not false precision, and we say when a figure is indicative. We name areas, developments, and tools fairly and factually. When we are sharing an opinion, we say so. See our editorial standards for how we research and review, and our disclaimer for the limits of what we publish.
